5 GCSEs 9 - 4 (A*-C) including English and maths or a Level 2 in Early Years at merit end grade. You will also need a DBS Check.
This is a one year course with learners having the opportunity to progress to a further year of study to enhance knowledge and skills and would give you the opportunity to gain Early Year Educator status and allow you to practise within the childcare industry. You will study child development play and learning skills and reflective practice for the 0-8 year age bracket. As part of this course you will also have the opportunity to top up your maths and English skills if applicable for your studie

It will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace a portfolio of evidence written assignments or a task set by CACHE.
Once you have successfully completed the course you could progress onto Lakes Colleges Foundation Degree in Children Young People and their Services University or employment. Successful completion of qualifications within this area can open the doors to a career within nurseries schools learning support play therapy and childrens social work.
